The joy of socks?

Presuming that I'll ever again in my life be able to ride more than 8 miles every 2 days, what is it that bike socks do? If I don't have bike shoes, then does it even matter? If I'm never going to need bike shoes because I'm permanently gimpified, then why do I even care?

I think moisture-wicking properties are the most important.

Yes, the kind of 18-mile bike ride I usually take every other night for no other reason than because I'm bored resulted in unbearable pain all the next morning, yet certain people have been treating me like I'm only milking a very minor injury from a very minor incident for way more than it's worth. I'm kind of angry about it.

Bonjour Jennifer,

About your hurt knee, let me tell you this: three years ago, in the French Alps, I had a take-off under my paraglider. For take-off, you have to run and on my last step, my right foot fell into a rabbit hole and then was wrenched out because I was airborne. It hurt like hell and I said to myself now I'll be the first one world-wide to experience a one-leg-landing.

Back on the camping site I could hardly walk and my wife proposed to use one of her grandma-remedies.

So we bought some 1st class olive oil and some lemons. Take a small quantity of olive oil (half a glass or so) then add a tea spoon of freshly pressed lemon juice and mix the stuff.

Rub this mixture on and around your knee. In my case, the same evening, I was at least able to take a small walk to the restaurant and was able to ascend the stairs leading to the loo.

In my case it helped wonderfully by taking away the hurt. Only some slight stiffness at bending the knee for a kind of yoga position remained for about two years. Could be this helps you, too, without any side-effect drugs.

Good luck
Georg

You care because it is your spirit that drives the mind to overcome physical limitations, otherwise your body becomes and ever present obstacle or worse yet a prison. You go girl!!!1 pterryh
