And in parking news

You think east Hyde Park has a parking problem?

From the Chicago Sun-Times:
Disabled to share parking spaces? 'NO PLACE FOR ANYBODY ELSE': Lakefront aldermen want to limit street spots

"Motorists with disabilities in two congested lakefront wards would be forced to share the designated on-street spaces in front of their homes under a pilot program in the works tailor-made to ease the parking crunch.

"Aldermen Vi Daley (43rd) and Helen Shiller (46th) want to test the concept of 'shared restricted parking spaces' to reduce tension between disabled motorists with special parking privileges and able-bodied drivers who have to fend for themselves---"

Stop right there: Who else thinks that's one of the most asinine things they've ever heard?

Everything about parking is always asinine. And lazy-ass-inine, too.

I just got the strangest picture in my mind of seniors brandishing canes and walkers at each other as they fight for the only designated spot left on the block.
